New York In the USA, a major real estate broker has applied for an IPO. This would also allow Softbank, the largest investor, to sell at least part of its shares at a profit. The value of the just under nine-year-old company, which relies heavily on digitization, is expected to be in the double-digit billion range.
The mood on the U.S. markets is currently particularly favorable for real estate stocks that focus on digitization: The share price has tripled in the past twelve months.
Frankfurt In a few weeks, the 2021 summer semester will begin, and despite all the restrictions in the wake of the Corona crisis, many prospective students are once again setting out to find accommodation. But if they were hoping to find a cheap place to stay now because of the pandemic, they’re probably in for a nasty surprise.
The average rent for an unfurnished room in a shared apartment, with a size between 10 and 30 square meters, has risen again this year – although much less than in previous years.
Thus, the standard price for the current semester in the university locations is a total of 403 euros per month. That’s a hefty 17 percent more than students had to factor in during the 2016 summer semester – but only 1.3 percent more than the year before.
But when looking at the individual university locations, there are significant differences. For the study, the experts evaluated several thousand rental advertisements for shared rooms: It should come as little surprise to future students that they have to pay significantly more for a shared room in Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg than in other cities. The standard rent for an unfurnished shared room in the Bavarian capital at the start of the 2021 summer semester is 650 euros per month, as it was in the winter semester.
There is a wide range in the individual offers: For the cheapest 25 percent of all advertised rooms in shared apartments a maximum of 550 euros was demanded, for the most expensive 25 percent at least 750 euros. But half of all advertised rooms in shared apartments were offered for a price of 650 euros.
Then follows Frankfurt am Main with a standard rent of 500 euros warm. In Hamburg, students have to pay 495 euros.
